Much of the research and driving effort behind development of interoperable digital preservation repositories is coming from a global governmental impetus. Organizations like the Library of Congress and National Archives and Records Administration are paving the way in the U.S. Many similar organizations exist in leading countries world-wide doing outstanding work in the field.
